Research and Development

One of the fundamental ambits of our activity, since the foundation of the Institute in 2011, has certainly always been that of Research and Development, in reference to both external and internal projects. In fact, as ZEPHIR Passivhaus Italia - Zero Energy and PassivHaus Institute for Research, we have also worked over the years to put our scientific skills and our specialists at the service of research projects, development and improvement of technical and technological solutions for the many stakeholders of the sector of Sustainable Construction. For example, we have directed resources and knowledge towards: • The study and optimization of windows and doors in support of construction companies, in order to raise their performance and bring them to Passive House quality levels, in relation to thermal transmittance and response to air, light and atmospheric agents • The development of more effective solutions in the field of Compact Aggregates and more generally of Mechanical Ventilation Systems with passive and active technology heat recovery • The improvement of monitoring, management and regulation devices for energy systems used in residential buildings • Research and definition of the most effective tools to be integrated into the PHPP program as part of the calculation of the Cost Optimum, or the meeting point between energy efficiency and investment productivity, and Controlled Mechanical Ventilation All these fields of study and practical optimization have proved to be very stimulating and exciting challenges: indeed, Research and Development is essential for us in the continuous improvement process that underlies the model and the Standard Passive House.
