The Diesel Oxidation Catalysts also, known as DOCs, are exhaust aftertreatment devices specifically designed to reduce emissions from engines, thermal or industry processes where pollutants as Carbon monoxide (CO), Hydrocarbons (HC), diesel particulates Organic Fraction (OF), as well as aldehydes or PAHs must be reduced. The DOC is generally considered as the first step of a complete exhaust gas treatment (DOC+DPF+DeNOx) and its efficiency removal of the above-mentioned pollutants can be up to 98%. DOCs are widely used as a retrofit technology because of their simplicity and limited maintenance requirements.
